About Me

I love ancient Egypt, and I had wanted to be an Egyptologist since I was little.  While I took some detours along the way (can you believe I almost became an accountant?), I made my way back to my first true love and earned a Ph.D. in Egyptology.

But I have a confession to make.  I’m a HUGE introvert and was terrified at the idea of teaching at first.  But that all changed once I started, well, actually teaching.  I fell in love with sharing my passion, knowledge, and resources for ancient Egypt!  I was hooked and have been teaching ever since!

My top priorities: Egyptology, teaching, family, cats, and ice cream (not necessarily in that order)

Why this Website and YouTube Channel Exist

In the classroom, I’ve taught people aged 8 to 80 and from all walks of life.  One thing has united them all – they were intrigued by ancient Egypt and learned more about it than they ever thought possible.

Today, I still love sharing ancient Egypt through teaching. But I want to reach more people than I can by staying only in the classroom.

Inspired by some of the wonderful YouTube channels out there, I started creating videos about ancient Egypt. I thought: What better way to reach all of the Egypt nerds around the world?  What better way to help people who hunger for more than you can get through books and documentaries?

And that, folks, is how a YouTube channel and website are born!
